[Текст доступен только на английском языке] Susan Kosti is a Hungarian media artist, multimedia director and creative thinker based in Sydney, whose practice explores the relationship between nature, technology, data and human perception through large-scale immersive and audiovisual environments.
Beginning her career in 2010 as a visual designer for live events, Kosti developed a distinctive visual language combining 3D animation, motion graphics, projection mapping, light, sound and spatial design. Her work progressively moved beyond the screen towards architectural and immersive environments, using digital imagery to transform physical spaces and create experiences capable of shifting the audience’s perception of their surroundings.
A recurring focus of her research is the relationship between natural systems and technological processes. Through organic forms, complex digital structures and increasingly data-driven approaches, Kosti investigates how digital technologies can make otherwise invisible environmental processes perceptible, while creating new connections between audiences and the natural world.
In 2023, her project What Lies Beneath was selected for Vivid Sydney. Based on twenty years of NASA ocean data, the work transformed environmental datasets into an evolving underwater ecosystem, establishing data visualisation as an important component of her artistic practice. The project was subsequently presented in different spatial configurations, including an immersive version at Kanvas Dubai.
Her recent work further expands this research through artificial intelligence, interactive systems and real-time data. For Vivid Sydney 2024, she contributed to Chorus of Light, an AI-driven interactive installation translating visitors’ responses into visual content and light in real time. The same year, she was a featured artist at BLINK Cincinnati with Urbaphilia, transforming demographic and environmental data into a large-scale representation of the city as a living organism.
Kosti’s projects have been presented internationally in contexts including Vivid Sydney, BLINK Cincinnati, Osaka World Expo 2025, Tokyo Disneyland, Müpa Budapest and the UAE National Day celebrations. She has also collaborated on large-scale productions with artists and studios including Es Devlin, Luke Halls and Moment Factory. In 2025, she received the Media Designer of the Year Award from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME).
Across her practice, Kosti approaches digital technology not simply as a means of producing images, but as a tool for revealing relationships between complex systems, translating data and processes into spatial and sensory experiences that reconnect human perception with the environments in which it exists.
