An Audiovisual Mapping Performance with Fire
BALL DE FOC was a performance of video Mapping with fireworks and it tells the obsession of an alchemist to dominate the hellish fire of hell.
The Devils dance of Vilafranca del Penedès (Barcelona) is a folkloric manifestation of Catalan popular culture. Its base is a representation of the struggle between the forces of heaven, represented by angels and archangels, and the forces of hell, represented by the devils, well accompanied by fireworks that burned in parades and processions.
With its origins date back to the 17th century, the Devils Dance of Vilafranca keeps being a talked dance. It maintains the sacramental act which is a representation (street theater style) where the devils try to tempt humanity (represented by the pilgrim), with the seven deadly sins, and in the end, the angel enters to the scene to impose the Good on the Bad.
Regarding the pyrotechnics, the devils also perform “correfocs” in parades and other festivals, where they burn different kind of fireworks along the route.
