Tell it Slant

[Text available only in English] "Tell the truth but tell it Slant" from a poem by Emily Dickinson. PuttyRubber is a soft activist exploring the use of abstract video art to consider global questions: habitat change, inequality, prejudice and gender. Her aim is to take a diffuse approach and avoid the polarised battleground by approaching from from the side, from underneath, and through abstract suggestion make emotional connections, in a small but powerful way.

She uses uplifting abstract form, colour, textures and heavily processed footage that is reminiscent of our figurative understanding of the world. Through this she tries to connect positive feelings of delight, awe, wonderment to the familiarity of the real world in an attempt to unconsciously create a positive hopeful desire to engage and effect change.
