[Text available only in English] Ensuring the sustainability of events is crucial for addressing the environmental and social challenges of our time. Like any human activity, events also have a significant impact on the context in which they take place, in terms of carbon emissions, consumption of natural resources, waste production, sourcing practices, and working conditions.
The event industry is now called upon to contribute to the sustainable transition, especially in light of the Green Deal. Only by doing so will it strengthen its resilience, securing the ability to attract public funding and private capital in the medium and long term.
Promoting sustainable practices in the sector means not only reducing the negative externalities produced by an event but also generating positive ones, using events as tools for raising awareness and informing audiences about the principles of sustainable development.
This presents a significant opportunity, which can only be realized through an increased level of awareness regarding the potential to integrate the management of environmental and social aspects throughout the life cycle of every event.
The workshop "Sustainable events, a serious game" aims to simulate the main challenges faced by event organizers, developing participants' ability to address them by testing their skills in organizing a series of events with the goal of being classified as "sustainable."
