Thermal is an audio-visual performance with the aim to explore the value of vulnerability through the amplification of electromagnetic activity produced by a microwave oven.
The format presentation is an audio-visual event produced by a metal filament placed inside the oven acting as an inductor, amplifying and modulating the electromagnetic activity produced by the overheating of the device through self-design hardware, transducers and customized amplifiers.
The technical setup is divided in 4 sections:
1. Custom hardware based on AD8313 IC used to log in the 2,4GHz spectrum -frequency range in which as several other electronic devices, the microwave oven works-.
2. Contact microphone placed over the oven to amplify the mechanical activity.
3. An LDR amplifying the light produced by the electric current generated by the metal filament.
4. Metal filament located inside the oven (copper).
