When it gets dark, Oddstream organizes a two-day light art exhibition there. Seven artists connected to Oddstream make three art installations for the church in which image, light and sound complement each other around the theme of reflection. The artists make use of the special architecture and acoustics of the church.
Starry sky', one of the art installations, is a multi-sensory total experience in which video projection, smell, sound and the visitor come together.
Sermon' is an amalgamation of religious speeches and film images projected on a triptych, which stimulate reflection and end in a melodious composition.
Piano' is an art installation in which the visitor, by playing a piano, gives a visual interpretation of the space around him or her by means of video mapping. In this way the user creates his own soundtrack to add to his own story.
Oddstream previously organised a sold out video mapping organ concert in the Steven’s church in which video projection and organ music complemented each other. The concert was attended by young people as well as older ones.
The light art exhibition can be visited between 16:00 and 21:00 and the entrance fee is 3 euros cash to be paid at the entry. Children up to 12 years old have free entrance. The exhibition is part of Oddstream on Stage where artists from Gelderland focus on making audiovisual productions. Kevin Kuijpers, Julian Theelen, Sjoerd Nieuwenhuize, Thijs Jacobs, Henk Nijman, Peter Erinkveld and Hubert Heutinck are the participating artists. The project is a collaboration between Oddstream, Nieuwe Electronische Waar and Drift to dance and is financially supported by the province of Gelderland and the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds Gelderland.
